Miramar Speed Circuit Miramar Speed Circuit in San Diego offers its guests an impressive 1/4 mile technical road course. No expense has been spared to create one of the finest indoor tracks in the United States. The asphalt track is the optimum medium for racing as it allows the tires to grip the track and prevents sliding, allowing the racer to use their brakes less often. The karts, which can travel up to 40 miles per hour, are made by SODI and are equipped with Honda 6.5BHP engines. Each kart has ROC Timing, which electronically clocks each kart as it rounds the track to give detailed information for each lap completed.
Speedway Kart Racing is done on oval tracks with either a dirt or asphalt surface; left turn only type of competition. Ovals range from small bull rings to large 1/4 mile tracks. Dirt track racing is an ever-changing situation that provides an excellent challenge; usually held at night.
Sprint Kart Racing takes place on an asphalt road course with right and left hand turns, banked monzas, hairpins and straight-aways. Racing is usually in the daytime.
Ages from 8 and up.
Enduro Kart Racing is held on large asphalt road courses using a lay-down kart that tests machine and driver endurance. Karts are very fast and are raced on big tracks such as Daytona International Speedway and Road America. Races last 45 minutes. Due to speed and the investment, competitors are usually very experienced drivers. Enduros are not recommended for novices.
